A windshield in every vehicle is there to serve as a windbreaker. Yes, to shield wind from blurring the sight of a driver that would cause him harm while driving. However, no matter how much one takes good care of his vehicle's windshield, at times it is just inevitable to encounter a cracked windshield . A cracked windshield is caused when any flying object smashes right into one's windshield. As such can happen to vehicles in motion or even to those that are just parked in what one seems to be a safe area.
There are instances when driving in a country side then out of nowhere someone would throw stones right into the windshield or maybe a big truck coming from a different direction hits up a big rock and flies directly onto one's car causing a cracked windshield.
There are two options in resolving such a problem and in containing the crack in windshield within its range. Either a repair on a cracked windshield must be done or have the cracked windshield repaired with a new one. The latter thought is quite expensive especially if the crack is just quite small. For option one, if the crack is not more than an inch, it would be better to have it sealed. The owner of the cracked windshield can do the sealing himself. Kits are available at automotive shops. The sealing compound which can be bought at over the counter shelf is a way of avoiding the branching further a crack.
However, if the crack in the windshield is more than an inch big then the best option is to have the cracked windshield repaired by professionals. Auto repair service has the right equipment in checking the the condition of the crack. There may be a hairline crack branching off which can't be seen by the naked eye. Assessment will be done and professionals will give a solution to your cracked windshield permanently. Although the crack may remain visible but it will be less noticeable and the crack will no longer spread out further. This process though won't take much long before one gets to see what seems to be a brand new windshield.
If the windshield crack seems impossible for a repair then the last option is the replacement of the entire windshield. This is costly though compared to having the cracked windshield repaired. The former will cost you hundred of dollars while the latter would only cost you more or less 60 dollars.
